Approach

Most rheumatological complaints are not settled by a single blood test or a single scan. A diagnosis comes from the complaint, the physical examination and the laboratory results read together.

Something else matters just as much: not every joint pain is rheumatic disease. One purpose of the examination is to spare you unnecessary medication and unnecessary worry.
